Erin Collins, National Taxpayer Advocate, has issued her annual report to congress noting the IRS has made significant progress over the past two years improving the taxpayer experience. She cites continued funding as a critical need to continue its service to taxpayers, along with improvements to technology.
The most serious issues for the IRS to address are the process of employee retention credits and tax returns in general, particularly where refunds are delayed, and addressing problems with identity theft and other tax-related scams.
