Since then, the IRS has collected $7 billion from non-compliant taxpayers and has paid over $1.2 billion to the whistleblowers who led the IRS to these tax cheats.
Regardless of whether people turn in their neighbors, relatives, or friends in hopes of receiving a monetary reward, or if they are tired of listening to the offending tax cheat brag about avoiding taxes, whistleblower reports are increasing.
The IRS received 44% more Whistleblower Reports this year compared to last year.
