Californians will be able to vote on two new legislative measures related to taxes on the June 5, 2018 Statewide Direct Primary Election ballot.
Assembly Constitutional Amendment (ACA) 5 seeks several changes, including:
- A new requirement that funds generated from taxes or fees imposed under the Sales and Use Tax Law or the Vehicle License Fee be used solely for transportation purposes;
- Exclusions for appropriation limits related to revenues generated from the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017; and
- Additional partial restrictions on the revenues generated from sales and use tax imposed upon diesel fuel, and a prohibition on the appropriation of these funds for non-transportation purposes.
