IRS Announces Initial Rollout of IRC 48C Energy Credit Campaign

On Behalf of | Nov 6, 2017 | IRS |

The IRS Large Business and International division (LB&I) is rolling out a series of campaigns focused on specific compliance issues. The division analyzed extensive data as well as suggestions from IRS compliance employees and the tax community to improve large business compliance activities.

The IRC 48C Energy Credit campaign ensures that only those taxpayers whose advanced energy projects were approved by the Department of Energy, and who have been allocated a credit by the IRS, are claiming the credit. These credits must be pre-approved through extensive application to the DOE. LB&I will send letters and initiate issue-focused exams to select businesses claiming this credit to ensure compliance.
